Tim Burton no longer wants to work with Disney and compared the company to a “terrible circus”

Tim Burton is confident that after the terrible experience with “Dumbo” he will never work with Disney again. Working on a live adaptation of the famous 1941 cartoon proved to be quite traumatic for him, so much so that it convinced him to no longer have any relationship with the American multinational corporation.

According to Deadline, during a press conference at the Lumière Festival in Lyon, Burton said that on the set of “Dumbo” he really felt like a prisoner and felt like a real freak in what was a real circus for him, on par with the one he had to encounter little cute flying baby elephant:

I started at Disney. They hired and fired me a few times….. Stuff happened while I was working on Dumbo, and that’s why I think my days with Disney are over. But one day I realized that I was Dumbo. I worked in this huge terrible circus and now I have to escape from it.

In a word, Dumbo was almost an autobiographical film for him, which prompted him to reconsider his relationship with one of the largest multinational corporations in the world of cinema, convincing him not to embark on new adventures of the same kind.

Tim Burton is coming to Netflix soon with Wednesday, starring Gomez and Morticia Addams’ daughter.
