Resident Evil fans won’t have long to wait for the long-awaited Resident Evil 4 remake, but many fans have one burning question after watching gameplay footage. Originally published by GameInformer in a rather impressive collection of exclusives, the report also included a lengthy gameplay clip showing Leon and Ashley shortly after escaping the church.
Fans were quick to point out that the rain effects in this demo, while trying to be moody and atmospheric, had a strange look and mimicked other recent remasters and remakes such as Grand Theft Auto 3. Fans quickly dubbed this incident “raingate” and arose among them. doubts whether it will be fixed before the release of the game at the end of this month.
A reporter from press-start asked Remake Producer Hirabayashi Yoshiaki a few questions, including asking him if there would be any changes to the rain effects, as it raised concerns among many players. Yoshiaki replied simply but reassuringly.
We have seen the reaction of all players to the rain effects and we are working on a Day 1 patch to make changes.
Great news, no doubt, and it shows that Capcom always listens to the opinion of the fans when it comes to remakes.
Resident Evil 4 releases March 24, 2023 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
